Sigh of Relief

Houston was spared the brunt of the storm last week, much to the relief of my sister-in-law, Veronica, and her family. She reports some minor wind-damage in her neighborhood and the grocery stores have been slow to restock their shelves, but other than that they seem to have escaped Rita's wrath relatively unscathed. They didn't even lose electricity.

When my wife and I called her last Saturday evening, the day the storm hit, her daughter already had friends over to play. Normalcy was returning in short order.

Of course, some of the smaller communities further up the coast were not so lucky. My heart and prayers go out to those who have suffered as the result of the storms this last month.
