Project Backpack

Thanks to Dean, fellow at-home dad and blogger, who commented in the last post about Project Backpack. The website gives a shopping list (primarily school supplies) that readers are then asked to pack into a backpack and ship to one of the school systems taking in hurricane evacuees. The addresses are provided on the site.

Get your own kids involved in this one and let them help pack up the school supplies! It'll give you a chance to talk to them about the positive side of the disaster - people coming together to help those in need.

And, for my local readers, there's a DC area Project Backpack that was started by 3 girls in our area. They're collecting backpacks filled with supplies at a local high school and shipping them to the needy kids. Here are the details:
