Another way to help...

Just on the off chance that somebody in Montgomery County, Maryland is actually reading my blog on a beautiful Sunday afternoon, here's another way to help with the hurricane relief efforts (if you're quick)....

A friend at our church learned this afternoon that Our Lady of Mercy, another local Catholic church, has arranged for a 48-foot long tractor trailer to take supplies directly to the Baton Rouge office of Catholic Charities which is providing direct aid to thousands of evacuees (they're only 75 miles from New Orleans).

They need to keep things simple for logistical reasons, so here's what they need most:
bottled water
non-perishable food
baby items (diapers, wipes, formula, etc)
adult diapers
over-the-counter medicines (pain relievers, first aid ointments, bandages, etc)
Now, here's the catch... the truck leaves in about 3 hours, at 8:00pm! So, if you are able, head over to Our Lady of Mercy (9200 Kentsdale Dr, Potomac, MD 20854). We're going to go through our cupboards right now and pack up a big box. Maybe we'll see you there!

BTW - Thanks to Office Movers for providing the truck.
