Feliz Cumpleaños

Today is my mother-in-law's birthday! We tried to call her on the phone earlier so the kids could sing "Happy Birthday." Normally our children are little chatterboxes. That is until you want them to say, or in this case sing, something. Then they suddenly find themselves speechless, of course. Once the pressure of performing on cue was gone (we got Grandma's answering machine anyway), they quickly found their voices again. They've been bouncing around all afternoon shouting "Today is Grandma's birthday!" and asking if we can bake a cake (they don't quite understand that Grandma lives nearly 1000 miles away).

Happy birthday, Mom/Grandma! You're in our thoughts and prayers today and always. We'll have to try the phone again a bit later. Maybe after we make that cake....
