Faith and Politics

I do not often write about politics here because the ensuing debates tend to be divisive (and I would really like to keep the few readers I have). However, those of you who know me know that politics is a subject of great interest to me. Faith is as well. This evening the two will come together.

The confluence of these two subjects is not all that unusual for me. I am an active leader of the community organizing group my church helped found some years ago, and that work surely brings politics and religion together. However, when I speak at that group's actions, the assembly is generally people of faith who have gathered to discuss or exercise their political power. Tonight I will be addressing a group of political activists with regards to the role of faith and religion in the political arena. It promises to be a fascinating evening.

Anyway, if you're interested, I have been invited to lead a discussion of faith and politics at the DFA Meetup in Rockville at 7:00pm. Please feel free to drop by if you're in the area.
