TGIF! That Means Pizza at our House... Usually

Well, it's late afternoon on Friday and that means it's time to order pizza here at the Daily Yak. Usually. However, tonight we have to make an exception since DW called from work and said she was having pizza for lunch.... What? You don't check in with your spouse to make sure the day's meals aren't duplicated? Hhmphhh! Well, this stay-at-home dad is on the ball! OK... that's not what really happened.

We do usually have pizza on Friday's, but we're having pasta tonight because we're leaving this weekend for a roadtrip.* Don't see the connection? Alright, I'll spell it out for you. See, I have some leftover rolls and pasta sauce that will not be edible if left 'til we return. So we're foregoing our usual pizza pie in favor of said leftovers. Very economical, leftovers are.** They're just fine, as long as you don't leave them in the 'fridge too long. Gotta use them in a few days or next thing you know you're growing strange, furry-looking molds that the children find and want to turn into pets. Mmmm! Tasty!

Anyway, now I just need to decide which pasta to use with the leftover sauce: rotini, farfalle or good old spaghetti. Think I'll let the kids choose.

Speaking of pizza, though.... Have you ever ordered yours online? We used to just pick up the phone and call the local Dominos. Then I discovered that you can order online at Papa John's! The first time I ordered online we had a bunch of family visiting. I thought it would be cool to show off my knowledge of cutting-edge technology. So, to the computer I went. Of course, it took me at least twice as long to connect to the internet, logon to the site, register as a customer, select our order, etc, as it would have if I had just called them on the phone. But hey, doing it online is more fun (I could see that as a bumper sticker, couldn't you?).

*Note to you Daily Yak stalkers: A burly (and maybe surly?) friend is watching our place while we're gone. So don't even try to break in and fondle my yak-emblazoned boxers!

**I don't think it's grammatically correct to end a sentence with "are," but it kind of reminded me of how Yoda speaks. Except maybe this would be better: "Very economical, leftovers, they are." Just make sure you say it to yourself in Frank Oz's voice. Yeah, I know. I'm a bit of geek.
