Home Alone

This morning, after dropping the kids off at school, I dropped my wife off at the airport so she could head out on another business trip. This has become a somewhat more frequent experience since we moved down to Texas (I think this is her fourth trip in the five months we've been here). She telecommutes from home now, which is great, but has to fly back to Maryland regularly to deal with issues and meetings that just can't be done long distance.

So, here I sit. Home. Alone.

I have about 167 items still to do on my to-do list, but instead of tackling them I find myself slouching in front of my old laptop, blog surfing. I've been checking out a few of my old favorites (you'll find some of them in the sidebar to the right). I've been on kind of a blogging hiatus (both writing and reading) for a while, so it's kind of like catching up with old friends. It's nice, and I find myself wondering why I let things slip for so long....

I've stumbled across a few new sites as well and will definitely have to update my blogroll soon. For instance, Thumper, my sister-in-law, has made a new foray into the blogosphere. She's been blogging daily over at the Thumper Zone for over a week now (and she doesn't even have the word 'Daily' in her title), providing a peek into her life now out in the Pacific Northwest. She's been giving me grief (not undeserved, of course) about abandoning my blog, especially since I do have the word 'Daily' in my title.

:-)

It may take a bit for me to get back in the swing of things, blogging-wise, but I am here Thumper, and my fingers are itching to type some more. But first, I need to knock a thing or two off that to-do list!
