Could You, Should You, Cite a Blog?

And if you should and could, how would you cite a blog in an academic paper? Just in case you have pondered that question, the National Library of Medicine now offers some guidance.

As a side note, the Daily Yak was actually cited in an academic paper a couple years ago. A college student stumbled across a post of mine illustrating the impact of Hurricane Katrina on our local gas prices, and took the time to email me and ask if he could use the info and pic in his paper. I readily agreed, of course.
