You Know You're a Packrat When....

OK, so I just finished putting the kids to bed (DW is working late tonight) and I just had to share this little tidbit with you....

Teeth are brushed, faces washed, pajamas on, stories read, and we've had the obligatory wait-I-can't-go-to-sleep-until-I-get-another-drink-of-water bedtime stalling tactic. Which is, of course, closely followed by the quite legitimate wait-now-I-have-to-pee-again necessity. Finally the lights are turned off, and it's time for the kids' evening prayers.

We encourage them to use prayer time to express thanks for their favorite activities of the day, to be thankful for family and friends, and to ask for blessings and help for family, friends and themselves.

The litany is quite often repeated night after night with only slight variations. Occasionally, though, one of the kids will throw in something new or unexpected (the whole "out of the mouths of babes thing"). Tonight, I thought they were done when my 5-year old son said, "Wait Daddy! One more!"

"OK," I said. "What would you like to add?"

He replied, "Dear God, please bless all of Daddy's junk!"

"What do you mean junk?" I interjected (in mostly mock indignation).

"You know Dad, all that stuff you have in the basement and garage! That's your junk!"
