Shaking Things Up at Home

Well, those of you who have been reading this blog for the past year know that my wife and I have been attempting to sell our home here in Maryland as we prepared to move to Austin, Texas. Unfortunately, the housing market has not cooperated with us in that regard!

Here our house sits, after seven months on the market, price reductions and incentives to no avail. We are beginning to get a bit anxious now as the house we are having built outside of Austin is rapidly taking shape and we must sell this house before we have to settle on that one in a few months!

The listing on our current home was set to expire a couple of weeks ago and we had to think long and hard about what to do. The original listing agent was a friends of ours (though she has since moved... to Austin(!)... her partner took over the listing several months ago), but in the end we decided that we needed to shake things up a bit. We let the listing expire for a couple of weeks while we interviewed a handful of new agents, looking for an aggressive marketing plan that would get results in the short time we have left.

We finally made a decision and have signed a new listing agreement with a father-son team of agents with an impressive record of selling homes in the area. Here's our new listing.

We are fervently praying that the right buyers find our home... soon! Anybody want to buy a house?!?
