Move Update III

I have good and bad news to report on the house selling/move front.

On the downside, we've had to relinquish our hold on the house in Austin we were having built. It had become obvious that we were going to have some difficulty settling on the house next month, and the builder was unwilling to accept a contingency contract. So, instead, we opted to transfer our deposit to another lot on the same street and to begin anew on another home. This actually does have some positive implications. For one, we will be able to be involved in the building process from the design stage on up (unlike the first house, which was well under construction by the time we found it). This will allow us to pick and choose from a wider array of options and to customize the house more to our own desires. It also gives us several more months to sell this house.

On the positive side, things seem to have been picking up in the last week or so. We've had more potential buyers and agents do walk-throughs in the last 10 days than we've had in the last 2 months! And we've had several families express real interest, coming back for second looks, talking about financing, etc.

So, we're a bit disappointed that we've had to let go of the home in Austin, but beginning to feel more optimistic that there is a light at the end of the tunnel. Anybody want to buy a house?
