Once More Unto the Breach...

Alright, that title is a bit over dramatic, I wasn't rallying the troops like King Henry at Agincourt... just chaperoning another kindergarten fieldtrip (the last one of the year). 16 bouncing, eager, funloving 5-and 6-year olds along with a handful of parents from my daughter's class boarded a school bus for a ride downtown to the Smithsonian Natural History Museum.

My son, whose preschool has already let out for the year, was excited and really looking forward to riding an actual school bus "like the big kids." Unfortunately, when I got to the school I was informed that due to liability issues he couldn't ride on the bus with his sister's class.

So, instead we headed off to the Metro and took the subway downtown and met up with the class at the museum. Luckily (at least for me), he loves riding on the train and quickly forgot his disappointment over the missed bus ride. And, since we didn't have to leave to catch the bus back to school, the kids and I were able to hang out at the museum most of the day! Dinosaurs, skeletons and bones of all types, bugs, cool rocks - that's fun stuff! Even if we had just been there on a family outing a while back.
