Psst! Wanna Be On TV?

Wife Swap is still looking for stay-at-home dads willing to be on the show. They were prowling some of the daddy blogs (including mine) a few months ago and have apparently moved on to at-home dad Yahoo groups. A friend just forwarded this message to me:
Dear List Owner,

My name is Kirstin and I am a Casting Producer for ABC Televisions show, Wife Swap. I am reaching out to you in hopes that your group can help me find a family for our show. We are specifically looking for a family where dad stays home and cares for the children and the house. We want to feature a family where "traditional" gender roles are reversed. Mom works full time and is the sole provider and dad "does it all" at home. The premise of the show is to take two very different families and switch the mom's for a week. Each family should consist of two parents and at least one child over the age of five and should reside in the continental U.S. It's a positive experience for people to learn about other families and other ways of life.

This is a very unique experience that can be life changing for everyone. In addition, each family that tapes an episode of Wife Swap receives a $20,000 honorarium. If you have any questions, please call me at the number below.

Thank you for your time.

Martha Stewart is in the market for some stay-at-home dads as well, though no word if she'll pony up $20,000:
Hello,

We are looking for stay-at-home fathers to be part of a special show tentatively scheduled to tape on November 4, 2005. If you have a dad at home taking care of the kids and he'd like to be part of the show, we would love to hear about him. We are looking for a diverse group from all over the United States. If you know anyone who would be great for the show, please send your suggestions, including a few lines about how your stay-at-home dad spends his day to: grosen@marthastewart.com. Thanks!

Hmmm... are stay-at-home dads a hot television trend now? Do you think they're going to air the shows in mid-June? Say around Father's Day? Yeah, it's all about the marketing angle. I don't think I'd subject my kids to the cruelties of reality tv, but hey, if one of you wants to go for it, be my guest! Tell them you heard about it on the Daily Yak. Thanks to Matt over at Life Blender for sending me the info. Does this mean I have to split the finder's fee with you, Matt?
