Looking for SAHDs in Your Area?

I've been wondering if any of you out there have ever used MeetUp? It's a website that helps connect people with common interests. There are nearly 1.5 million members and over 4,000 different interest topics worldwide. I bring it up because stay-at-home dads is listed as one of the interest groups, although there are only 482 of us dads currently signed up.

Still, with all the messages on SAHD-related email lists from dads looking for other dads near them to organize playgroups and other activities, I think there's obviously a need out there that is not being met. MeetUp may be an interesting tool to use in that regard. Though, of course, the word has to get out about it for it to really work (hence this post on my blog).

MeetUp is updating its system to allow more flexibility (the changes should be in place shortly), and I'd like to see if we can use it to bring more of us at-home dads together. So, if you're interested, register at MeetUp (it's free). I am happy to answer any questions about the site (I've been using it for over a year), and please, let me know how it goes if you get a MeetUp group going in your area!
